Born in the southwest, Adeline grew up surrounded by birth, babies, religion, and cactus. After getting degrees in environmental sustainability and women’s studies, she packed up her books, her dog, and her bike, and moved north to Seattle and found a community of powerful, queer, radical womyn. She works full time as a doula, attending births and pregnancy releases both with Full Spectrum Doulas as well as in her private practice, Black Rose Doula Services (blackrosedoula.com). An anarcha-feminist with radical persuasion, she strongly believes in the right to bodily autonomy during pregnancy, no matter what, no matter why, no matter how.
She lives with her primary partner, her two rescue poodle mixes, and a large collection of houseplants in central Seattle. She is thrilled to be expecting her first child in January. She loves coffee, homegrown vegetables, sun salutations, home births, herbal abortion, and the smell of dehydrating placenta in the morning.
Alison (Ali) has served as a founding member of Full Spectrum Doulas since its beginning stages and serves as a Core Organizer in Seattle. In addition, she owns and operates Healthy Family, Healthy World and specializes in eco-healthy postpartum doula care, eco-healthy childcare and education and consulting for families on reducing toxic chemical exposure in their households.
Prior to moving to Seattle, she served as Programs and Policy Associate at Reproductive Health Technologies Project (RHTP) in Washington, DC and as a public policy researcher for NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin. She has over 10 years of community organizing experience for a wide range of social and health justice issues and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is currently pursuing her MSW/MPH at the University of Washington-Seattle.
